
DOHA: The Peninsula and Al Sharq have tied up with Qatar Charity to launch a drive to support flood victims in Pakistan. Donations will be received at all offices of Qatar Charity in the country beginning today.
Qatar Charity, a leading charitable body in the country, has been making arrangements to send 80 tonnes of emergency aid worth QR2.2m to the Lahore and Islamabad airports, in collaboration with Qatar Airways.
Abdullah bin Hussain Al Namah, Deputy Director of Qatar Charity, said yesterday that a shipment with 40 tonnes of aid will reach Lahore international airport soon. More shipment will be sent by air at the end of this week.
The shipment contains huge amounts of canned meat, tents, beds and blankets, kitchen tools, mosquito nets, cleaning material, stoves, lamps and portable toilets.
