IMG, the worldwide sports, entertainment and media giant, has become a major force in the business of college sports in the last three years without many fans being aware of its rapidly growing impact.
The company’s latest move might change that.
It announced Wednesday that it has agreed to acquire ISP Sports, which has been one of IMG’s main competitors for the right to represent major-college athletic programs in sponsorship and local radio/TV deals that have become huge revenue sources for schools.
