‘Fun-filled’ events mark City Center anniversary

City Center Doha is celebrating its 10th anniversary with 45 days of ‘fun-filled’ events beginning tomorrow.
“Visitors and shoppers will witness the longest and grandest in-mall celebration in Qatar,” City Center Doha director Christoph von Oelhafen said yesterday.
Among the highlights are two raffle draws offering prizes for a total of 53 winners, with 26 winners in the first draw on May 5 and 27 winners in the second draw on May 31.
The prizes include Kia Cadenza and Cerato cars, economy class tickets from Turkish Airlines, annual membership vouchers from Fitness First Health Club, gift vouchers from Ajmal Perfumes, and LCD TVs, mobile phones, Net books and projectors.
The Alexandrite ballet show from Ukraine, annual fashion show, a one-day art competition, medieval empire show, robotics show, and a break dance contest are the other attractions.
“To take part in the raffle draw for a chance to win one of the prizes, shoppers have to spend at least QR200 at City Center between April 15 and May 30,” the official explained.
Bills can be exchanged for raffle draw coupons from the redemption booths.
The Alexandrite show, which starts tomorrow and runs until April 23, is a ballet featuring eternal classics to folk motives and contemporary dance created by professional choreographers.
Circus artistes, archers, and equilibrists from Ukraine will also join the Alexandrite dance group. The art competition with the theme ‘City Center Doha – Satisfying all your desires’ will be held on April 24 in association with Alwan Qatar.
The annual fashion show, being presented on April 28 and 29 will feature the latest fashion and trends of the season.
The medieval empire show from May 10 to 19 will depict characters from the Middle Ages, clad in metal armour, royal cloaks, feathered hats protected with metal swords, real arrows and shields.
The robotics show is from May 20 to 29 and visitors will have opportunities to interact with the robots, and an AKTROID (Actress+Android) that will perform simple mimics, song and dance.
Fit Works Vol.2 by Fitness First, scheduled from May 27 to 31, will see performances by local and regional break dancers.
