Qatalum CEO updates 4th MEED Middle East Aluminium Conference on plant progress


As Qatalum, the state-of-the-art aluminium smelter being built as a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and Hydro in line with Qatar’s long-term economic diversification strategy, gears up towards full production later this year, CEO Jan Arve Haugan updated those present at the 4th Middle East Aluminium Conference on the Plant’s progress.

Qatalum is an equal joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and Hydro of Norway, with the ability to produce 585,000 tons of premium- quality aluminium products per annum from twin 1.2-kilometer potlines. Its complex facilities include a carbon plant, port and storage facilities, as well as a captive power plant.
