DOHA: The turnout of visitors to the Qatar Career Fair which ended here on Thursday was lower as compared to last year, but the organisers said the event was a huge success as it attracted targeted audience this year.
More than 68,000 people had visited the 2009 edition of the fair but the figure came down to 48,000 this year.
More than 100 business entities from the government and mixed sectors as well as a number of key listed companies were represented at the Fair held at Doha Exhibition Centre with job, training and scholarship offers for nationals.
They collectively received more than 10,000 applications for direct employment, hands-on training programmes and scholarships.
A highlight was that a large number of expatriates also visited the fair to exploit job opportunities. The number of women visitors was large too and, in fact, the morning session on one of the five event days was exclusively reserved for them. [Read More]
