Bombardier Inc. is doing well with its Challenger 850 business jets developed from the 50-seater CRJ200 regional jet that is no longer built. Qatar Airways’ new on-demand business charter unit began operations this year with two new 11-seater Challenger 605s and one 8-seater Challenger 300. It has now ordered two 12-seater Challenger 850s for delivery in December and January next, said industry publication FlightGlobal Wednesday.
The new charter service is meeting all forecasts as it flies into the booming Mid-East corporate travel market from its Doha base.
The Challenger series business jets are built in Montreal. Qatar is a potential customer for Bombardier’s CSeries commercial airliner due to fly in 2013.
